About twenty five years ago we decided that going forward the way we wished to farm was to return to a more traditional system with a greater variety of crops, a longer rotation and reintroducing livestock to the farm. We feel this is of great benefit to soil, plant and animal health. It also benefits biodiversity.

The main crops are winter wheat, winter barley, oilseed rape, spring barley and sugar beet.  There are smaller areas grown of specialist crops, such as Ahiflower which is used as a vegan Omega 3 supplement.  Maize and grass is grown for livestock feed.

Some of the barley grown is sold for malting; producing malt is the first stage in brewing beer. The remainder of the barley is used for animal feed. The majority of the wheat is sold for animal feed, much goes to be milled for the local free range egg producers. Oil seed rape is used for cooking oil production and the sugar beet is made into sugar at the British Sugar factories at Newark and Wissington.

We have several broadleaved woodlands on the estate. The larger woodlands are managed for timber, biodiversity and amenity value.
